- David Atkins Review added: 2018.10.05★ ★ ★ ★ ★A fascinating place to visit although it's a long walk so go prepared is my advice with drinks and snacks. There's a couple of cafes at the start of the walks to Brean Down but nothing at the top. You'll need a rest and drink if you're going to the top using the steps believe me. When you do eventually get to the top the views are beautiful but take care there are no guard rails, no fencing and no warning signs regarding the long drop to the ground below. It's about a15 minute walk to the fort from the top steps or you could use the alternative route and miss out the steps altogether and use the path round the outside missing the summit out altogether but it's still a long walk. We found the fort itself interesting, very atmospheric place to explore.
